Driver, 21, named following fatal A5 lorry crash near Lichfield

A 21-year-old man who died in a smash on the A5 has been named.

Callan Neal, from Walsall, was driving his white Renault Clio, which crashed with a HGV in a layby near to Wall Island, near Lichfield.

The tragic incident happened at around 2am on Saturday, December 4 and sadly Callan was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family are being supported by specialist officers and they have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

Officers from Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances around the collision and are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who may have dash-cam footage or witnesses that may have seen the white Renault Clio prior to the collision is asked to email ciu@staffordshire.pnn.police.uk, call 101 quoting incident number 55 of 4 January or direct message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter.
