Emiliano Martinez will put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Aston Villa once his move from Arsenal goes through.
Villa have agreed a fee of around £20million – including add-ons – to sign the 28-year-old goalkeeper.
Martinez was left out of Arsenal’s squad for Saturday’s win against Fulham as he underwent a medical with Villa.
Dean Smith is keen to recruit a new stopper ahead of the new Premier League season because Tom Heaton is still recovering from his knee injury.

Heaton, an £8million signing from Burnley last year, suffered ligament damage to his knee against his former side in January and is not expected to return until mid-October.
Martinez ended last season as Arsenal’s regular ‘keeper but wants the guarantee of first-team football with German international Bernd Leno having returned from injury.
Leno missed the final nine top-flight matches and the FA Cup final but regained his place in the side against Fulham with Matt Macey included on the bench as backup.
Villa face Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday but don’t begin their top-flight season until next Monday when Sheffield United visit Villa Park.
Martinez will sign a contract lasting until 2024 according to football.london and becomes the third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ollie Watkins and Matty Cash.
Watkins became Villa’s record transfer earlier this week when he joined from Brentford for an initial £28million, while Cash cost £14million from Nottingham Forest.
