Covid-19 case at Atherstone Town Community Football Club

A football club has recorded a positive case of coronavirus.

Atherstone Town Community FC, based in Sheepy Road, revealed the news on Sunday, October 11.

Tthe players are currently on a break so are separated at the moment.

The Adders, who play in Midland Football League Division One, last played on Tuesday, October 6 when they beat Cadbury Athletic 6-1.

A club statement read: “We feel it appropriate to inform our followers that we have had a positive Covid-19 test within the club.

“At present the club are monitoring the situation in line with FA Guidelines and doing all we can to follow the protocol required.

“We are being led by the FA Guidelines and the Midland Football League with the situation at the present time and will continue to do everything possible to keep people safe.

“We are currently in the middle of an 11 day break in the fixtures list, so as a club we have decided to mitigate exposure by keeping all at risk separate during this break.

“This will allow us to monitor the situation and minimise the risk over a period of ten days minimum.

“We will provide updates as we get them, but at present we hope everyone stays safe and well.”
