Traffic cops closed off a stretch of the M6 Toll following reports of a ‘police incident’.
Motorists travelling southbound between J3 (Lichfield South) and J4 (Sutton Coldfield) were stopped by West Midlands Police shortly before 8am on Thursday, November 19.
Those travelling on the carriageway were urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
No details of the incident were immediately available.
A spokesman for Highways England said: “The M6 Toll in Staffordshire is closed southbound T4 and T3 due to a police led incident. Central Motorway Police Group are on scene being assisted by Highways England Traffic Officers.
“Road users are being diverted via the A38. Delays are likely on the approach to the closure, with additional journey times also expected on diversion routes. Please allow extra time for your journey if travelling in the area or consider alternative routes.”
We will bring you more details as we get them.
