Aston Villa are braced for a frantic fortnight after the Premier League announced that this weekend’s fixture against Everton had to be postponed.
Villa’s first-team bubble are still amidst an outbreak with nine players and five members of staff contracting Covid-19 last week.
Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground has remained closed for the past week but that facility near Tamworth will reopen this weekend following the squad’s period of isolation.
A spokesman for Villa said: “The club would like to express its immense gratitude to the medical experts who have helped us to get a significant Covid-19 outbreak under control, as well as the Premier League board and our fellow clubs for their understanding during this period.
“We expect that members of the first team squad and staff who are healthy and safe to return to training will do so on Sunday when the isolation protocols will have been observed.”
Villa, of course, had their game with Spurs (January 17) postponed due to safety concerns while last week’s FA Cup third round tie with Liverpool was contested with weakened academy side consisting solely of under-23 and under-18 players. Villa will now play Newcastle in the Premier League on January 23 during the fourth round FA Cup weekend.
Following today’s announcement, Villa’s next match will be Man City at the Etihad in six days’ time on Wednesday, January 20. With that said and Villa’s Premier League programme looking much clearer, here’s a rundown of Villa’s next batch of fixtures and relevant TV details.
